Paintings

My work is playful, spiritual, philosophical, psychological, and poetic. I paint as I write— as a way of engaging and processing information, translating experiences into form, depth, color, and new meaning.

Coming from an academic environment in Linguistics & Literature, my first formal Art training was in the Tibetan tradition. For many years, I focused solely on drawing Buddhas and Tibetan Buddhist deities.

These paintings from the past few years and especially the series I am currently working on, have emerged from a desire to explore beyond the figurative and precise techniques I was trained in as a student of Traditional Tibetan Thangka Painting. Yet, I always return to these teachings, as its a practice that offers something beyond words.
