Mostly known as “EFT” (Emotional Freedom Technique) or “The Tapping Technique”, Dynamic Tapping is the Pause in JOY evolution of this highly efficient spiritual tool.
Along with the energy of Reiki, the intimate space and connection that is created in a Dynamic Tapping session is palpable, often uncomfortable, and always liberating. It is my favorite tool to eliminate fears, reset limiting beliefs, and remove any feeling that is blocking me.
Dynamic Tapping requires deep excavation of our emotions, admittance and openess and it is recommended for those who are ready to go there and welcome a shift rather than analyze.
What is Dynamic Tapping?
Dynamic Tapping is the Pause in Joy evolution of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This technique was developed by Gary Graig in the 1990s based on his study of work done by Roger Callahan in Thought Field Therapy (TFT). TFT was one of the first methods in what is now called Energy Psychology. The Emotional Freedom Technique got famous among golfers in England since it helped them improve their game by removing any energy, thoughts and programming that was not aligned with their optimal performance. EFT stimulates 12 key acupressure points along the meridians or energetic superhighway of the body. In each of these points, specific statements are used to diminish, clear and neutralize the particular emotional charge that is affecting our system energetically.
What is the difference between EFT and Dynamic Tapping?
Dynamic Tapping was developed by Patti Penn as seen on the Heal Documentary and it is performed by Reiki Masters trained at Pause in Joy. It is Emotional Freedom Technique supported by the Reiki energy, which offers an intimate energetic connection between facilitator and participant where the intention to “Pause in Joy” is guiding the Session for clients to shift and heal in a sacred space. This might feel like a time capsule of the past affecting present behaviors and new possibilities opening in the future. In a Dynamic Tapping session, no emotion is discriminated and you will not be judged for speaking your mind as we go onto stream of consciousness and tune into the energy that is creating the emotional charge.
It is not the positive but the negative emotions that create a disruption in the body’s energy system. When ignored, dismissed, denied or left unattended, these disruptions are what later express as a lack of focus, procrastination, depression, illness and dis-ease.
What to expect?
Ultimately, expect to leave feeling lighter, with a new perspective and that you accept, trust and love yourself more.
A tapping session is structured around a specific clearing statement that we say and repeat, going from simple emotions to things that are difficult to admit and into life changing affirmations, in a dynamic dance where the narrative storyline becomes less important than the gravity of the emotion, sometimes felt as dense energy in the body. Different from traditional therapy that is very useful to unpack life events, in Dynamic Tapping we go into the raw energy underneath that is contributing to the negative emotions and their expression.
I have seen people get through grief, collapse phobias, deep traumas that they never realized how much were contributing to their panic or anxiety, outbursts of frustration, and paralyzing fears (as the fear of an upcoming surgery, or fear of crossing bridges, or the fear of dogs or bugs in a child), just in one session. I have worked with those going through painful relationship transitions, health diagnosis, feeling like they’re dying, grieving the loss of someone, transition into college, artists and writers who feel blocked in their expression, and their reaction is always of surprise, of how quickly they were suddenly able to shift their feelings about something that seemed so overwhelming before.
A dynamic tapping session is truthful and intimate. As a facilitator I help connect the dots and guide the participant through their own journey, feeling every cue, both said and unsaid. Reiki is not only part of the session, Reiki guides the session by holding the intimate space of energetic connection.
Due to the intimate nature of a Dynamic Tapping session, before scheduling I will have an extensive email exchange with the client. By unpacking information we get into the core of what we will be tapping on so the session is used in shifting and unblocking rather than narrating life’s story. The extra time that is allowed to exchange this crucial information is reflected in the price.

“Tapping with Pia has been a completely grounding and life changing experience. It has been an opportunity to take a moment to recognize what is afflicting me, even in the most subtle way, and to address it right on the spot. To change my behavior so I am not necessarily "focusing on the positive" but also working through emotions which I may often ignore or deny. The way that Pia can perceive and identify the subtleness in those afflictions feels so intimate and personal. She is then able to guide you right through it and unpack all these complex emotions along the way. For me, it has been absolutely liberating and empowering.”

“The sentences that Pia made me repeat felt as if she was reading my unconscious word for word. Her clarity to read my energy gave me confidence and helped me look at myself like a mirror. A complete X-ray of my feelings, my blockages and limiting beliefs. I would have thought that such an intimate and revealing experience could have made me feel threatened or at least ashamed. However, I felt at ease by the empathy and sense of humor with which Pia guided me to dig deeper without pressuring me, making me feel deeply loved and valued. One of the most valuable qualities of Pia as a facilitator is the preparation and criteria with which she performs her sessions, her dedication is real. Already having contact with her life force is healing and inspiring.”
